Preparing for Your Domain Transfer
To ensure a smooth and successful domain transfer to Origami Host, please follow the steps below:
1. Confirm Access to the Registrant Email Address

A domain transfer requires approval through a "voting ticket" sent to the email address listed as the Registrant on your domain.

If you are listed as the Registrant, make sure you can access that email account to approve the transfer.

If your current hosting provider is listed as the Registrant, they will need to approve the transfer on your behalf.

If the Registrant email address is outdated or incorrect, contact your current registrar to update it. Note that:

Email updates take 5 days to complete.

You will need to wait until this update period is over before you can initiate the transfer.

2. Notify Your Current Hosting Provider

Inform your current host that you intend to transfer your domain.

If you also plan to move your hosting to Origami Host, you may need to cancel your hosting service with your current provider after your website has been fully migrated.
3. Clarification: Website Migration Is Optional

If you are only transferring the domain registration to Origami Host and plan to keep your website hosted elsewhere, you do not need to move your website or email content.

After the domain transfer, you can simply update your DNS settings within Origami Host’s system to point to your external hosting provider.
4. Prepare Content (Only If Moving Hosting to Origami Host)

If you are also transferring your website and email to Origami Host:

Make sure you have a full backup of your website files and databases.

Export your email content if needed.

5. Avoid Downtime (Only If Moving Hosting)

To prevent any disruption to your website or email:

Upload your website content to Origami Host before transferring the domain.

Set up your email accounts on our servers in advance.
-

These steps are not necessary if you are only transferring the domain.
Submitting the Domain Transfer
6. Submit the Transfer Request

A voting ticket will be emailed to the Registrant by the domain authority (ZACR).

Only the Registrant email address can approve the transfer.

If the address is incorrect, ask your current registrar to update it first (note the 5-day update period).
7. Accept the Voting Ticket

When you receive the email, click the link to approve the domain transfer.

Once accepted:

The transfer process will begin.

We will notify you once the transfer is complete.

Please allow up to 48 hours for DNS propagation.
